Sonya Shearer

Education: Tennessee Temple University, B.S. Music Education 

I am Sonya Shearer, a Band Director for 30 plus years and this is my year to focus on individual student talent. After many masters hours at Florida State University including saxophone study under Patrick Meighan, I have directed concert, jazz, solo, ensemble and marching bands grades 6-12. The Bands and Solo/Ensembles have received superior ratings in the Florida Bandmasters Association and other affiliations throughout the southeast. Many former students have advanced to receive degrees in Performance and Music Education. Several are now performing and directing their own band programs.

I look forward to teaching middle school students on any wind instrument and high school students primarily on clarinet and saxophone to help them reach their goals.
